Explosions and energy discharges arising from a fault or short circuit are just two examples of the dangers to which workers are exposed every day in the electrical, petrochemical and telecommunications sectors, among others. Aware of the vital importance of effective protection in highly hazardous work environments, the accessory brand BUFF® is expanding its FIRE-RESISTANT range with its first hat, the new FIRE-RESISTANT HAT.

This hat, designed with the aim of providing protection in environments where there is a high risk of burns, has been manufactured from NOMEX® by DuPont™ fibres, a flame-resistant material that maintains a stable barrier between fire and skin. Thanks to its flame-retardant properties, this material does not melt, drip or cause combustion in the air when it comes into contact with fire. It is also a highly durable material, which means that its resistance to heat and flames is inherent and remains intact during the product’s entire useful life. In addition to these incombustible properties, the hat is light-weight and very comfortable, thanks to the dual-elastic material and whip-stitched flat seams which allow it to be worn under a safety helmet.

This product has been awarded the EU certificate in accordance with what is established in Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and in accordance with EN ISO 11612:2015 standards regarding “Protective clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame”, with the following performance levels: A1, B1, C1, F1. It also complies with the European Standard EN 1149-5:2018 “Protective clothing – Electrostatic properties”.

This innovative product is the first hat in the FIRE- RESISTANT category of the brand’s PROFESSIONAL line. The new hat joins the pre-existing tubulars and balaclavas in the range of protective products for the neck and head.
