Barcelona, August 2019 – For yet another year, BUFF® the brand for neck and head accessories will be present at the next edition of UTMB® and this time, it will be there in two different ways. On the one hand, through the important participation of the BUFF® PRO TEAM athletes in four of the races: UTMB®, CCC®, TDS® Y OCC® and on the other, through many activities which will be carried out during competition week, included in the brand’s DO MORE NOW corporate social responsibility programme.
A total of 11 members of the BUFF® PRO TEAM will participate in the four individual races held at UTMB®. Zach Miller, Pau Capell, Marcin Świerc, Ian Sharman and Eugeni Roselló form part of the 2,300 runners signed up to the UTMB® race, measuring 171 km with a positive gradient of 10,300 m. Amanda Basham, will participate in the CCC® race and will face 101 km with a positive gradient of 6,100 m. Ernest Ausiró will represent the brand in the TDS® race, which is 140 km long and has a positive gradient of 9,100 m. Finally, Andreu Simón, Eugeni Gil, Mònica Comas and Martyna Kantor will participate in the OCC® race, with a distance of 52 km and a positive gradient of 3,500 m.
With the aim of spreading environmental awareness among attendees, as part of its DO MORE NOW sustainability programme, BUFF® will set up four plastic bottle recycling machines located in different areas of Chamonix. This way, the brand wants to encourage the public to recycle plastic bottles and educate them on the different uses of recycled plastics, including the creation of the fibres used to produce the iconic BUFF® neckwear. For many seasons, the brand has produced a lot of its collection from fibres coming from recycled plastic bottles. All of those who attend this event will receive a voucher for a surprise gift which could be anything from a store discount, a website discount or a prize.
Furthermore, thanks to this event, BUFF® will donate €3,000 to the OCEAN INITIATIVES project, promoted by the Surfrider Foundation Europe which is devoted to cleaning up and collecting plastic from beaches, rivers, lakes, oceans and seas around Europe. This will be carried out through the EOCA, the European Outdoor Conservation Association with which BUFF® has collaborated since 2011 on different environmental projects.
