  • This year, a total of 17,000 spectators and 3,500 participants from more than 40 different nationalities enjoyed the different sporting, recreational and cultural activities that make up this mountain festival.
  • The 42K trail, which accumulates scores for the Migu Run Skyrunner® World Series, brought together some of the best Skyrunners in the world, including Zach Miller, Ruy Ueda, Jonathan Albon, Ragna Debat, Sheila Avilès and Monica Comas.
  • La Vall de Boí has been put forward as a candidate to host the Skyrunning World Championship next year.

Last weekend, the spectacular natural surroundings of the Vall de Boí, and its epicentre, the village of Barruera, bore witness to the third edition of the BUFF® MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL, a mountain-based festival that is organised by the accessory brand BUFF® and considered a benchmark throughout the Pyrenees and southern Europe.

This new edition in turn hosted the 6th version of the BUFF® Epic Trail, an iconic high mountain competition that brings together the best runners in the world on one of the most demanding courses of the international calendar. With four different distances – 65K, 42K, 26K and 12K – and with the 42K counting towards the Migu Run Skyrunner® World Series, this competition brings together more than 3,500 runners from 40 different nationalities.

Furthermore, the BUFF® MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL presents the BUFF® MTB Marathon, which in this edition, features two different tracks, one with a distance of 56 km and 2,200 metres of uneven ground, and another with a distance of 35 km and 1,600 metres positive elevation gain.

Despite the high probability of rain that threatened the festival throughout the weekend, the more than 35 activities that make up the BUFF® MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL took place successfully. Nature Campus, canyoning, rafting, two-seater paragliding, via ferratas, Nordic walking, yoga… A total of 17,000 spectators and nature lovers of all ages gathered together to enjoy three days of sporting, recreational and cultural activities.

And as a novelty for next year, the Vall de Boí is a candidate to become the world headquarters of the Skyrunning 2020 World Championships again, just as it was in 2012 and 2016.
